All New, Free Amenities for 2022

For campers with a love of nature and water sports look no further than Outer Banks West/Currituck Sound KOA. Perfectly situated in Coinjock, North Carolina, our campground is the premier destination for an unforgettable nature experience. With plenty of water activities available, you can also see a variety of wildlife, from wild horses to over 300 species of birds throughout the year.  For 2022, we are adding new, all-inclusive amenities both on and off the water, so you can further enjoy what the Currituck Sound has to offer.

Fishing Rods

If you want to start off your vacation with a little bit of excitement, we’d suggest grabbing a fishing rod to see what you can reel in. Since the Currituck Sound is one of the most famous fishing regions of coastal North Carolina, you can play tug of war with smallmouth bass and sunfish, and even try your hand at catching crabs. If you want to put your angler skills to the test, you can enter into the campground’s annual Fish-A-Thon, or visit during Crabbing Weekend.

Boats

In the mood for a self-paced adventure down the Currituck Sound, instead? Then feel free to borrow one of three new types of vessels. Pick up a rowboat or paddleboat and take a ride along the lagoon. While taking in the sights, try to spot different types of water inhabitants like otters, toads, turtles, lizards, and many more. If a burst of adrenaline is to your liking, then grab a banana boat and join up to 10 people on a splash-filled adventure. If you’re unfamiliar with how to use any of the boats, don’t worry. Campground staff can give you a tutorial on how to safely use the type of boat you choose so you can get the most out of your experience. Safety equipment such as life jackets are also included with every vessel.

Fishing Kayaks

For seasoned anglers who want to venture out on their own, a new selection of fishing kayaks are available. Large enough to carry all the gear you’ll need for a day out on the Currituck Sound and the stability to ensure that going toe to toe with your opponent won’t tip you over, you’ll be able to bring back a grand haul.

Fish Cleaning Stations

Once you’ve caught your prize from one of five piers or your time boating on the Currituck Sound, you can use one of the fish cleaning stations located near the water. These 50-inch-tall deluxe stations are mounted to the dock so you can do either bait prep or clean your catch. Don’t forget to bring along your own tools!

Water Taxi

In the mood to explore nearby areas but don’t feel like driving there yourself? Then grab a ride on our new water taxi! By taking this option you can enjoy the view of the water and choose from multiple routes around the campground and surrounding areas. So whether you’re up for an area tour or want to get a quick ride to local shopping and food areas, there will be a scenic way to get to your destination. Just be sure to keep track of the route schedule so you don’t miss the free ride back to the campground.

9-Hole Mini Golf

If a slower-paced activity sounds nice after a day on the Currituck Sound, then stop by the recreation area for a bit of mini golf. Open to putters of all ages, the 9-hole course be located next to other activities like the jump pad and volleyball court. Each section will have interesting challenges to work around so you can use your brain power to see if you can get a hole in one.

Pedal Cart Track

Want to have a friendly competition between family members or fellow campers? Then head on over to our pedal cart track where you can test out your racing skills. These leg-powered, height-adjustable vehicles come in two sizes so kids 5 and up as well as adults can join in on the fun. Get those legs pumping on over 200 ft. of track. This short burst, adrenaline-pumping race makes for a fun time and a great workout.
