Camping With Pets at the Bangor Holden KOA

Hello Campers!

Here at the Bangor Holden KOA we love animals!

We have several dog waste poles around the grounds along with a dog park.

But there are some important tips and tricks to know before bringing your pets camping.

1. Choose a pet-friendly campground

It is important to research and educate yourself when on the road, about which campgrounds welcome animals and what their regulations and stipulations are. Some campgrounds only accept certain breeds of dogs, so that is something to look into! But here at the Bangor Holden KOA we welcome all pets!

2. Pack Pet Essentials

While you pack for your trip don't forget to pack for your furry friend too! Make sure to bring the necessary bowls, food, water, harness, leash, waste bags, and more! Don't forget to bring toys and blankets as well to help your pet feel more at home.

3. Respect Wildlife + Other Campers

Help preserve the natural environment by keeping your pet under control and preventing them from disturbing wildlife or other campers. Avoid allowing your pet to chase or harass wildlife, and always clean up after them to minimize the impact on the ecosystem and maintain a clean campground environment. Remember to keep your animal in sight at all times!

4. Be Mindful of Temperature Changes + Extremes

Keep a close eye on the weather forecast and be prepared for temperature extremes when camping with pets. During hot weather, provide ample shade, fresh water, and avoid strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day. In cold weather, ensure your pet stays warm with insulated bedding, protective clothing, and access to shelter from wind and precipitation.

Camping with pets is fun, but it requires careful planning, preparation, and consideration of your pet's needs. By following these essential tips, you can ensure a safe and enjoyable camping adventure that strengthens the bond between you and your pet while exploring the great outdoors at the Bangor Holden KOA . Happy trails and wagging tails!
