Mix apples, lemon juice, sugar, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts together and put in a 10-inch Dutch oven. Combine brown sugar, whole oats, flour, butter, 1/2 cup chopped walnuts and lemon rind to make topping. Add topping and bake from the top and bottom for 20 minutes. Remove from bottom heat but continue to cook from the top another 10 minutes or until the apples are soft. Oven directions: 350° for 25-30 minutes, until apples are soft.
