Seaside Joint Does Barbecue Justice on the Oregon Coast

You may be a bit surprised to run across first-rate barbecue in the Pacific Northwest. But that's just what you'll find at the Riverside Bar-B-Que in tiny Seaside, Oregon.

The tantalizing aroma from two large outdoor smokers fills the air at the Riverside, which is painted a bright pink color. As you wait for your sandwich and beans, owner Duane Summers just might bring you mini-jalapeno corn muffins, and suggest you squirt honey on them. They're delicious!

The enormous pulled-pork sandwich is piled high with more meat than you've ever seen anywhere. The restaurant also offers ribs, beef brisket, prime rib and chicken, all prepared with a dry rub and slow-cooked for hours.

Seaside is on the northern Oregon coast along U.S. Highway 101/26, about 18 miles south of Astoria.
