Stax Records
Stax Records and Soul Music turns 50 this year while Rock City in Chattanooga celebrates its 75 year anniversary. The Stax Museum of American Soul Music and Stax Music Academy will mark the 50th anniversary of Stax Records and 50 years of soul music in 2007. Events will include a January - April exhibit of photographs taken in African-American churches in Memphis and photography exhibits featuring famous album cover photographs and current photographs of former Stax Records artists. Soulsville, the nonprofit parent company that operates the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, announced that in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Stax Records, it will host a year-long celebration in 2007, including special exhibits, events, concerts, and other programs, including SOUL SANCTUARY: Images of the African-American Worship Experience; THE ART OF STAX: Essential Album Cover Photographs by Stax Photographer Joel Brodsky and "STAX HERE AND NOW: Never-Before-Seen Current Photographs of the Stars of Stax Records".
