"We are especially tailored for families with kids," Sharon said of the campground, where they've added new amenities for family fun. The campground now has a miniature golf course and a paved track for the 3 and 4-wheel fun bikes they rent. During the summer, families enjoy the pool, hayrides on the weekends, and weekend Country Western singers in the cafe who even invite campers to join them on occasion. The campground is open all year, and a movie (rated G or PG) is featured every night in summer - geared for families who want to wind down after a busy day. The couple leased the campground since 2002, and purchased it in 2004. Larry was previously part of a family dirtwork, paving and equipment rental business in Phoenix, but they wanted a lifestyle change and an opportunity to move from the desert. "This seemed like a wonderful family atmosphere," Sharon said. And since Larry grew up camping with his family, and they always enjoyed KOA's, the couple jumped at the chance to move to this scenic destination campground. They are located between two major locations Sedona and the Grand Canyon and there are many other Northern Arizona attractions for vacationers to enjoy. Many visitors use the KOA as their base camp, she said, since it is central to attractions and has amenities that kids enjoy. "It's like living in paradise," she said of the 27-acre site filled with trees and beautiful campsites. They take pride in the friendly atmosphere and the high quality of services they provide at the campground. "We like to treat each customer as though they were a guest that we are welcoming into our own home, " she added. "We always get comments about how friendly everyone is, and how it's a great place to bring a family," she added. The couple spends as much time as they can with their two children, Ashley and Carter. Together they enjoy activities such as kayaking on local lakes, and skiing in the winter.
