Visalia / Fresno South KOAMeet Your Hosts Twenty-five-plus-years in the construction industry, both as an estimator and business owner, taught Darol Blunt the importance of customer service. "Our guests are our business!" Darol often says to anyone who will listen. "Customer satisfaction is our primary concern and we are constantly striving to better understand the camping industry and tailor our business to meet our customer's demands." Darol and his wife, Judy, moved to Visalia in 2005, after purchasing the Visalia/Fresno South KOA. He owned a roofing contracting business in the Bay Area for a number of years, and learned that all service industry business is driven by the same thing: customer satisfaction. Even though Judy is not always on site, she is very much hands-on with the business. Before moving to Visalia, she owned a very successful bookkeeping and income tax preparation business. So, she obviously keeps a close eye on business operations. Judy also enjoys gardening and much of what you see when you drive into the campground is because of Judy's influence. The Blunts have made a number of changes over the past few years, in the pursuit of always giving their campers a positive experience. The first two years were all about deferred maintenance, fixing plumbing and electrical problems, cleaning up the bathrooms, expanding the swimming pool area, planting lots of landscape items and installing irrigation systems to make things look better. They then added eight camping kabins and in 2009 are adding two kottages with kitchens and bathrooms. They've installed a WIFI system to cover the entire campground that is free for campers; added a heater to the pool to extend the swim season; expanded the store; and much, much more. The Blunts plan to continue the campground improvements. "Visalia/Fresno South KOA is a better campground than we were a few years ago; however, that is not enough. Our goal is to be great: Great People and Great Camping! That's the KOA motto and that is our motto." Come meet the Blunt Family. |
