Trinity Lake KOAMeet Your Host Pat Kelsey (better known as PK) comes to the Trinity Lake KOA by way of a nine-month, 8,000 mile, 16-park, journey with KOA, along with a lifetime of camping experience and knowledge. Pat's love for the outdoors began during his Scouting years, as he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He went on to receive a degree in Forestry Management, and then took a couple of years to do some gold mining in Downieville, CA. For 20 years Pat owned and managed a large camp resort in northern Michigan, where he won many awards, including Campground Owner of the Year, and was consistently in the 'Top Ten' franchises. PK and his wife, Patt, have three children - two of them were born in campgrounds! - and just about every family memory is tied to camping, from personal family vacations all over the country, to working together in all aspects of the camping business. Pat recently sold his resort and he and his family traveled a bit, then searched throughout the U.S. for another hospitality-type business to get into. But it wasn't long before he realized his heart and soul was still in camping, and that deep-seated love is evident in his energetic and 'can do' attitude at Trinity Lake KOA. PK was born 'loving people' and nothing makes him happier than to make others happy! So it's no surprise that "Happy Kampers" have always been his main goal over the years of campground management. He believes that to achieve that goal, "Guests MUST see well-maintained and clean restrooms, cabins, and campsites; experience fun activities; and encounter a SMILING STAFF offering courteous, friendly and helpful service!" PK's boundless energy as a 'hands-on manager' encourages his staff to be 'on board' with him in making sure all guests leave with great 'forever memories' of their stay at Trinity Lake KOA. "The Trinity Alps Wilderness Area is such an outstanding, breath-taking vacation destination, that the hard part is done...and all we have to do is point people in the right direction and let the trails and rivers, and lakes and mountains fill their days with awe-inspiring beauty. Then when our guests return to their sites or cabins, we provide all the amenities that will ensure that they are refreshed and recharged for another day of adventure!" says PK. Trinity Lake KOA offers 20 cabins, both one- and two-bedroom; large shaded RV and tent sites under towering pines; a sparkling pool for those hot summer days; a large playground to delight the younger ones; mini golf; an on-site snack shop; and saving the best for last: Trinity Lake itself! It is a phenomenal fishing lake with awe-inspiring views that offers boating of every kind and is just a short walk from the campground. In his free time Pat loves horseback riding, hunting, rodeos, and hiking or driving the scenic back roads with his wife, Patt and daughter, Hannah.
