Plantable Paper! Kids Camp

Saturday, August 8th
9 a.m.-12 noon
Come make your own paper, from recycled materials, that you can grow into beautiful flowers! We will be creating our own unique papers that can be planted in moist soil to sprout native wildflowers! Not only is this a fun project, but we are also helping reduce waste by reusing and recycling materials.

Costanoa summers can be pretty windy, so why not have fun with the wind? We will be creating our own colorful kites, so bring your imagination. Then we'll go out in the field to test out our creations!

Live Bat Presentation with Monique Lee

Monique Lee of the Bat Conservation Fund will be here to share some of the amazing facts about the lives of Bats. In addition to an informative visual presentation, she will showcase several live specimens. The presentation will be followed by twilight Bat Hike.

Tie Dye Fun! Kids Camp

Who doesn't like to tie dye? Bring your own special items to transform (like old t-shirts, socks, beach towels etc…) or use what we have. Prepare to have fun and make a mess, so wear something you don't mind getting stained.

Shipwrecks and Sea Monsters, the tragic end of the Ship Sir John Franklin

Nearby Franklin Point Beach was once a Maritime Cemetery where the remains of the perished shipwrecked souls were put to rest. State Park Archeologist Mark Hylkema has done extensive work in the Archeological Zone of Franklin Point and Aņo Nuevo State Reserve.

The Pelagic Shark Foundation has done extensive research and tagging of Great White Sharks off of Aņo Nuevo Island just south of Costanoa. Sean will share images from his programs as well as dispel the idea of Great Whites as sinister man-eaters in this unique and inspiring presentation.
