Hollydot Championship Golf Course

This 27-hole golf course, which is open year-round, is located just 10 minutes from the campground. It is one of the area's most challenging courses. Hollydot is a member of The Golf Card, and the facility has been honored many times by Golf Magazine. Camping/tournament packages are available for certain dates.

Lake Beckweth and Lake Isabel

Lake Beckweth is located five minutes from the campground. It not only provides fishing but also a walking/jogging track around the lake. Lake Isabel, a little further up into the mountains, is about 15 minutes from the campground. Stream fishing can also be found in this area. Both lakes are maintained and stocked under the management of the Colorado State Department of Wildlife.

Bishop’s Castle

This one-man project which features a 30’ octagon-shaped steeple on top of the 161’ main tower of the castle, attracts visitors from all over the world. Soon to be added 200' above ground level on the northwest tower is a 20' geodesic dome. When finished, the reflective glass on the dome will light up the night sky and be visible as far as 30 miles away. Travel back in time as you explore a mystical forest complete with its own medieval castle!

Frontier Pathway Scenic & Historic Byway

Travel a scenic 103-mile long corridor (accessed at Colorado City) through some of Colorado’s most picturesque and historic areas. A lavish display of Colorado wildflowers await around avery turn as you see sites of the first non-Indian settlements, 52 mountain peaks, deer, elk, bighorn sheep, black bear and mountain lion.

Graneros Gorge

This spectacular gorge on the outskirts of town continually changes appearance with the changing angle of the sun. It has been described by many as a "miniature Black Canyon of the Gunnison". As your gaze over the edge of the gorge from the scenic overlook, take yourself back to the 1840's and you can almost see the early settlers setting up camp for the night as they pause for a rest on their way to Bent's Fort to trade their furs. On September 3, 1779, in this same area, the conquistadors and 300 Ute Indians (who had little use for the Comanches) destroyed the "invincible" Chief Cuerno Verde and his handful of followers, marking the first use of troops in battle in Colorado.
