Castillo de San Marcos National Monument

The fort is the oldest & largest stone fort in the continenal US. Built by the Spanish during 1672 - 1695 with blocks of coquina. Castillo de San Marcos is located on the waterfront at One South Castillo Drive. Open daily except Christmas Day. The hours are 8:45 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.

Flagler College Tours

Tour the former Hotel Ponce de Leon, a luxury resort for the rich and famous, built by Henry Flagler in 1887. Famous for Tiffany Windows, artwork and architecture. Now home of Flagler College. Guided tours run daily. 74 King Street. For tour information, call 904-819-6400. www.flagler.edu

Fort Matanzas National Monument

This Spanish outpost fort was built in 1740 - 1742 to guard the Matanzas Inlet and to warn St. Augustine of British or other enemies approaching from the south. Located 14 miles south of St. Augustine on A1A.

Fort Mose

Located about 2 miles north of Castillo de San Marcos, just off US 1 Fort Mose is the first free African Settlement to exist in the United States.

Fountain of Youth

It was here on the site of the ancient Indian village of Seloy that on April 3, 1513, Ponce de Leon came ashore to lanark and record the first moment of our nation's history, the discovery of the continent of North America. Government House Museum

Located in the center of St. Augustine in the Historic Downtown Plaza, this museum explores Historic St. Augustine's History from early native settlement to Flagler's Golden Era. 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at 48 King Street.

Lightner Museum

The former Alcazar Hotel, constructed in 1888, the museum is part of Henry Flagler's legacy of Florida hotels. Included in the museum's collection are Victorian period memorabilia, stained-glass art by Louis Tiffany, paintings, sculpture, furniture and more. Mission of Nombre de Dios and Out Lady of La Leche Shrine

This ancient mission was where the first Mass was offered in America's First City over 400 years ago. On these sacred grounds find Our Lady of La Leche Shrine, a 208 foot steel Great Cross, the Statue of Fr. Lopez and Shrine Gift Shop. Located at 27 Ocean Avenue, just off San Marco.

The Oldest Wooden School House in the USA

Located just inside the City Gates at 14 St. George Street. The automated professor and students dressed in period clothing relate the school's history, explain the barter system, subjects studied, and use of the dunce cap. Open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. www.oldestwoodenschoolhouse.com

St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park

This is a lushly landscaped zoo that has a rich 113 year history. It is the only zoo in the world to display all 23 species of crocodilians. Their exhibits include a KidZone playground, a quarter acre African Bird exhibit and Maximo, a 15'3" saltwater crocodile. www.alligatorfarm.com

Old Town Trolley Tours of St. Augustine

Uptown San Marco

This unique area is about half a mile from historic downtown. Antique and art galleries, clothing and furniture shops line San Marco Avenue. You are welcome to browse the shops, especially on the last Saturday of each month when they host "Uptown Saturday Night". Stores and galleries remain open until 9:00 p.m.
