Calhoun KOAMeet Your Hosts "It's rustic. We're rustic," said Aaron and Mary Anne Walkover, owners of the Calhoun KOA. The couple bought the KOA in late 2005 and is now bringing a southern hospitality to the campground. Renovations have been made throughout the grounds, and both the new owners and new amenities are sure to welcome weary travelers. People are able to soak in the sights and sounds of the city and then are able to return to a peaceful day in the campground's surrounding nature. The region is mountainous with weaving nature trails and trees dotted amongst the sites. "We are convenient to the highway as well as many historical parts of the state," said Mary Anne. "Our campground is friendly and clean and people appreciate that." Visiting children are met with a swimming pool, gaming arcade, and a miniature golf course. There is a catch and release fishing pond at the campground, that once again, gives it an authentic, rustic feel. Customer service is important to Aaron and Mary Anne, who are previous owners of an apartment building and numerous other properties. They are not new to the people business and they enjoy meeting and chatting with campers. "At campgrounds, people take care of their things and they take care of themselves - we like that about the campground business," said Mary Anne. The campground has employees that are described as "friendly and bubbly." "We walk around the campground at night and love to learn where people are from and where they are going," added Mary Anne. Their love for camping is merged with their love for antiques, and the campground store is filled with their recent findings. "We love to go to flea markets and antique stores in our free time," said Mary Anne. Come meet The Walkover Family. |
