Botanical Center

"The Des Moines Botanical Center is one of the most popular cultural attractions in Iowa, providing educational, recreational, and community resources to thousands. Its goal is to provide botanical displays and educational services for the people of Iowa. It is located on 14 acres along the east bank of the Des Moines River, close to downtown. Roughly 15,000 plants, tropical, sub tropical and desert plants.  The center is open all year around 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day).
