McCall / N Fork Payette River KOALocal Area AttractionsThe LakesPayette Lake is considered one of the crown jewels of Idaho. Enjoy its beauty from over 20 miles of shore line or by taking a scenic evening boat tour with Captain Ray Dupree who'll happily share some of the local history with you over a bottle of fine wine and a picnic dinner. More adventurous folks might like to try their hand at a jet ski experience with Cheap Thrills power boat rentals or Mile High Marina, both of which also have the tamer, pontoon boat, option. Of course you can always just enjoy a lazy day at the newly redesigned beach front city park or check out some serene motorized free canoeing or kayaking up at the north end of the lake. The RiversIdaho is world renown for its white water rafting and kayaking. Many local outfitters will be happy to suggest a trip that's just right for you and your group. Half day trips for the family to week long journeys through some of the lower 48's most pristine wilderness await. For something a little more local, just drop a tube in, a mile north of our campground and float your way home right back to the banks of the resort. It's a great way to spend a lazy summer afternoon. The FishingFish right off the banks of the North Fork Payette River. We have nearly half a mile of it here right at the resort! Everything from small, stocked ponds within a mile of the campground to high mountain lakes to choose from insure that you'll find the right spot for you and your fishing style. Always wanted to learn how to fly fish? We've got you covered there, too. Flyfishing lessons right here at the resort every Tuesday. The MountainsMiles and miles of hiking, biking and off roading adventures all await you. Let us know what you're looking for and we'll do our best to find the right spot for you. If you want the excitement of mountain biking without all the work, try lift assisted mountain biking at Brundage Mountain. It's all the thrills with none of the sweat! And if you're looking for a hike with a purpose we'll be happy to set you up with some local geocacheing coordinates with a hike to suit your ability. Hot SpringsThis might be just the ticket after enjoying any of the many outdoor recreation opportunities in the area. Once a resort for Boise elite, Burgdorf Hot Springs now looks more like an old western movie set. The large log sided, gravel bottomed, pool with its spinning log in the middle of the pool is sure to be a favorite with the kids. For a slightly more refined experience, try the Gold Fork. The hot, Lithium laced water is sure to transport you to another world where you're only worry will be finding the energy to make the thirty minute drive back to the resort. Golf, golf and more golfThere are nearly a hundred holes within thirty minutes of the resort from the ultra exclusive Whitetail course to the local municipal course which offers 27 beautiful holes and unbelievable weekday evening deals. MuseumsThe combined efforts of the local historical society and Frank Eld have saved many of the historic buildings of Valley County and relocated them to historic Roseberry. Take a stroll thru the past at the general store or enjoy some free outdoor music every Wednesday night. The annual bluegrass festival, with nationally recognized head liners is an absolute must see. The people watching alone makes it worth the 10 minute drive. The Smoke Jumpers Base is less than a quarter mile from the entrance to the resort. Daily demonstrations of how these brave individuals keep our forests safe from the rampant spread of forest fires are free of charge. Ask us about the other forest service museums like the 19th century wardens house built by Finnish immigrants using log home building techniques brought with them from the old country. BikingAn asphalt trail meanders through the woods and past shops and cafes in the town of McCall and all the way to Pondorosa State Park. It is accessible from the front of the Resort. Day TripsDrive the rails along the Payette River to Cascade on the scenic and historic Thunder Lines. You can tell your friends you've been thru the shortest solid rock tunnel in North America! Hop in your car and head to Yellow Pine, home of one of the largest Harmonica festivals in the USA (not to be outdone, you can say the same for Weiser when it comes to fiddling) or head up to Warren and grab some lunch in this old gold mining town that was hopping back in the eighteen hundreds. |
