Salina KOALocal Area AttractionsAbilene Eisenhower CenterLocated in Abilene, KS. Center's museum depicts the military and civilian careers of Dwight D. Eisenhower, with major changing exhibits. Visitor center houses a gift shop and auditorium showing a film on Ike several times daily. Center features include a Presidential Research Library, Eisenhower family home and place of meditation where President and Mrs. Eisenhower are buried. Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad Excursion TrainThis 12 mile excursion train ride through the Smoky River Hill Valley features a 100 year old wooden coach dining car and other vintage equipment. Parker CarouselThe Parker Carousel located at the Heritage Center was made in Abilene in 1901 and has 24 hand-carved horses, 4 chariots and is operated with electricity on special occasions. It is powered by its original steam engine. Museum of Independent TelephonyThe Museum of Independent Telephony, located at The Heritage Center, was established in 1973 to honor the men and women whose early efforts developed the independent telephone industry. Greyhound Hall of FameThe Greyhound Hall of Fame is a non-profit museum sponsored by contributions from people who know and love the sport of Greyhound racing.
