ORVing
Get on your ATV, motorcycle, dirt bike or dune buggy and head into the woods. If you love to ride on your ORV then the Newberry area is the place for you. You will find a network of trails through the Lake Superior State Forest wilderness that will provide many hours of unsurpassed riding. Most of the forest north of 4 mile corner (4 miles from Newberry) is open to off road-ing. State Forest Roads are open to off road traffic unless posted closed. Almost all of the many seasonal roads throughout the county are also open to you. Six DNR main-tained trails surround the Newberry area. Stop at the DNR Office in Newberry at the junction of M-28 & M-123 (behind the Comfort Inn) for trail permits, maps and local "Rules of the Road" before you head out into the forest.

Tahquamenon Falls
Located 52 Miles North of KOA Newberry
Located in the heart of Tahquamenon Falls State Park, the Tahquamenon Falls are one of the largest east of the Mississippi. The Upper Falls has a drop of nearly 50 feet, is over 200 feet across, and can propel a maximum flow of more than 50,000 gallons of water a second. The Lower Falls, located four miles downstream, is a smaller cascading waterfall. It can be viewed from the river or from an island that is accessible by rowboat.
Tahquamenon Falls Excursion - Toonerville Trolley

All aboard for an exciting excursion into Upper Michigan wilderness. The Toonerville Trolley, a narrow gauge railroad takes you 5-1/2 miles through thick forest, the habitat of bear, deer and other wild animals and birds. Your first view of the beautiful Tahquamenon River is at Hunters Mill. At the end of the trolley ride, a riverboat is boarded for a 21 mile cruise down the River to the upper Tahquamenon Falls.

Named by the French voyageurs in the 1600's. Grand Marais means the Great Pond, used as a Harbor of Refuge. Even today, Grand Marais is the only Harbor of Refuge between Marquette and Sault St. Marie. It is situation on the shore of Lake Superior and Grand Marais serves as the eastern entrance to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Point Iroquois Lighthouse

The Point Iroquois Lighthouse stands watch where Lake Superior begins its treacherous rush into the St. Mary's River. The Ojibwa Indians massacred a group of invading Iroquois warriors at this location in 1662, giving the point its original Indian name. It was noted by the early explorers, but did not become significant until the St. Mary's Falls Ship Canal opened in 1855.

One of the Upper Peninsula's major attractions, Kitch-iti-kipi or "The Big Spring" is two hundred feet across and forty feet deep. Over 10,000 gallons a minute gush from many fissures in underlying limestone, the flow continuing throughout the year at a constant 45 degree temperature so the spring never freezes and can be enjoyed any season of the year.

Fayette Historic Townsite is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan between Escanaba and Manistique.
