Bemidji KOA

Meet Your Hosts

The Davidson Family

With the name meaning "separated by running water", Bemidji is full of history. Keith and Mary Davidson are proud to say they are part of this history. Located on the headwaters of the Mississippi, Bemidji is the first town on the river. The KOA is located in the Northwoods and according to Keith, is "the Northwoods at its best."

Rightfully a destination park, the Bemidji KOA provides campers with the chance to experience a natural, authentic camping experience. "It's the final frontier; it's as though you go back 20 years when you visit because there is so little traffic and such a wild experience," said Keith. Search for nature and you will find it here. The KOA experiences a range of temperatures on a summer day-from 40 degrees in the morning to 75 degree in the afternoon. The campground is an escape from the usual camping experience. Despite the outdoorsy atmosphere, campers are still able to find comfortable amenities such as cable and wireless internet. "Both the economy and the atmosphere is different from many other campgrounds. People live in the Northwoods because they want to," said Keith. "The area is more small town and comfortable." People come for the history and stay for the fishing. Trout and Walleye are in abundance.

Keith and Mary's children help out at the campground, running cash registers and hot dog roasts. Everything is oriented around the family and campers are able to delve into the homey atmosphere. "We are like no other campground," added Keith.

According to Keith and Mary, the number one tourism is the Paul Bunyan history. Called "Land of 10,000 Lakes", the area is known for Paul and Babe's enormous footsteps and their resulting lakes. People come to enjoy a bit of the past while staying at a comfortable, friendly campground.
