Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest brick lighthouse on the American coast at 208 feet high. The beam from the Lighthouse can be seen up to 20 miles out to sea. Former keeper's quarters serve as a visitors center, and from April to mid-October, visitors are welcome to climb the 268 steps to the top for a spectacular view of the national seashore.

Established 70 years ago as a conservatory, the 6,000 acre reserve is home to more than 365 species of birds plus the endangered loggerhead sea turtles.
