Crooked River National Grasslands

The grassland is one of six federally designated grasslands in the U.S. and it encompasses 155,000 acres in Jefferson County. It is home to more than 375 species of wildlife. The KOA is surrounded by the National Grasslands.

Smith Rock State Park (10 miles)

The Crooked River winds in serpentine loops around the base of colorful Smith Rock in Central Oregon. Smith Rock State Park offers world class rock climbing along with an overlook of the Crooked River.

McKenzie Scenic Loop

Paved summer only route over McKenzie Pass on Hwy 242 above Sisters.

Cascade Lake Highway

The highway leads from the desert plateau of the Deschutes Valley to the base of the Cascade Range and provides access to Mt. Bachelor. The 87 mile paved loop is a designated National Scenic Byway and offers spectacular views.

Crater Lake National Park (120 miles)

Crater Lake is widely known for its intense blue color and spectacular views. During summer, visitors may navigate the Rim Drive around the lake, enjoy boat tours on the lake surface or hike some of the park's various trails including Mr. Scott at 8,929 ft.

White Water Rafting (42 miles)

On the Deschutes River starting in Maupin, Oregon.

John Day Fossil Beds (80 miles)

The John Day Fossil Beds contain great numbers of well-preserved fossils of remarkable diversity, spanning over 40 million years of "The Age of Mammals".

Indian Head Casino (35 miles)

Central Oregon's only casino is located in the heart of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation.

The High Desert Museum (36 miles)

The High Desert Museum immerses visitors in culture and history. Fascinating living history displays mingle with nature trails, otter, bird, and porcupine exhibits.

Headwaters of the Metolius River (40 miles)

Come see a river spring to life out of a hill side after taking a short hike from the trailhead.

White River Falls State Park (50 miles)

See a spectacular 90 foot waterfall and the site of a historic power plant.

Henderson Flat OHV Trail System (8 miles)

The Henderson Flat is located on the Crooked River National Grassland with open juniper vegetation spread over steep to rolling hills and interspersed with dramatically beautiful red rimrock breaks. It provides 18 milse of trails for casual OHV use covering about 1,480 acres.

Newberry National Volcanic Monument (40 miles)

Including Lava Lands, Lava Butte, Lava River Cave, Lava Cast Forest, Newberry Crater with East Lake & Paulina Lake, Paulina Peak, Paulina Falls, Big Obsidian Flow, and the Deschutes River.
