Madison / Pittsburgh S.E. KOAMeet Your Hosts Even before the decision was final, William and Georgette Jones had begun to turn their campground into a KOA campground. They purchased it in 1993 and converted it into a KOA one year later in 1994. Both William and Georgette were computer programmers, and after years of fixing computers, they decided to move from Connecticut to Pennsylvania to be closer to family. "When we moved here, we had no idea how much there was to do," said Georgette. The campground had been there since the 1970's and with much restoration and investments, they formed their campground into the beautiful historical site it is today. History envelopes the campground, and Georgette is most proud of the 100-year-old beams that support the main building. Originally an old barn, the building was torn down and rebuilt as the main KOA lodge. Nestled in a valley surrounded by hills, there is very little traffic and it is pleasant and peaceful. They have many activities for the visitors including volleyball, basketball, and fishing. Within an hours drive, there are over thirty things to do; campers can visit zoos, museums, and historical mines. "There is a lot of history around here," added Georgette. William and Georgette try to be attentive to everyone's needs. They escort them to their site to ensure limited problems and ice and wood are delivered when needed. In their spare time, they like to travel to other campgrounds and relax. They share and receive ideas with other owners and as Georgette said, "We have a good repartee with the other campgrounds."
