You should see the Hills from here! Custer/Crazy Horse KOA is your central location for visiting the entire Black Hills. We are in the center of all five major Black Hills attractions: Mt. Rushmore National Monument, Crazy Horse Memorial, Jewel Cave National Monument, Wind Cave National Park, and Custer State Park, within 6 to 23 miles of the campground. There is the Black Hills Playhouse in the park that puts on some amazing plays. Check out our Facebook page for more to do in the area! You can arrange tours with a local tour company that picks you up at your site. You will definitely want to stay more than one night with us. After a day of sightseeing, unwind at our tranquil campground among the ponderosa pines, just 3 miles west of Custer. Eat breakfast at the Buffalo Cafe, located inside the store. The kids will love our jumping pillow and playground. Seasonal activities (Memorial Day to Labor Day) include a heated pool (weather permitting). We offer a 3 bedroom house, Dreamweaver, w/hot tub, full outside kitchen and fireplace, 1- and 2-room Camping Cabins (No Air Conditioning or Bathrooms) two Deluxe Cabins, 30 & 50-amp Pull-Thru and Back-In RV Sites, deluxe patio sites and our new super RV site with outdoor kitchen, pavilion, fireplace and furniture and its own KOA Paw Pen and several types of Tent Sites, from primitive to upgraded. Free Wi-Fi, clean restrooms, an on-site store, laundry ($), dump station (for our guests only), firewood ($), picnic tables, and propane ($) are available. Rates are higher on June 27-July 7 and August 7-16 (Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and Custer Cruising' dates). No television service is provided; some sites can receive satellite reception. 

 Site rates are for one camping unit for two people. Additional charge for more than two. Cabin prices are for 2 adults and 2 children. A camping unit is a vehicle, motor home, camper, tent, or any other device used for sleeping. NO tents are allowed in RV sites; a maximum of six individuals per site.

Mount Rushmore National Monument

Symbolizing the ideals of freedom and democracy, it is a tribute to four presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln and their invaluable contributions to the United States. Walk the Presidential Trail, visit the museum, and come back in the evening for the inspirational Night Lighting Ceremony. The monument is located 22 miles north of Custer KOA.

Crazy Horse Memorial

The world's largest sculpture now in progress, the Memorial includes the 40,000-square-foot Orientation Center and theaters, the Indian Museum of North America, the Native American Cultural Center and the sculptor's studio. Take a bus ride to the base of the sculpture to gaze up at the completed face of Crazy Horse. Return in the evening for the fantastic Laser Light Show. Located 8 miles north of Custer KOA.

Custer State Park

Explore this 71,000-acre world-class wildlife preserve located just east of Custer. The park features the spectacular geological formations and narrow tunnels of Iron Mountain Road and Needles Highway, beautiful Sylvan Lake, and the Wildlife Loop, where you can see one of the nation's largest bison herds in the wild. Recreation includes hiking, fishing and swimming, Visitor Centers and historic sites. The east entrance to the park is 6 miles east of Custer KOA.

Jewel Cave National Monument

Jewel Cave is the second longest cave in the world, with over 137 miles of passages explored and surveyed to date. Airflow studies indicate that most of the cave has yet to be found! The cave is well known for its natural beauty and unusual features, including crystal calcite, which lines much of the cave walls. Reservations are suggested for the ever-popular Scenic Tour, and can be made up to 1 week ahead. There is also a shorter Discovery Tour which is handicapped-accessible. Jewel Cave is 10 miles west of Custer KOA.
