Fort Concho

This National Historic Landmark was founded in 1867 as a frontier outpost to protect early West Texas settlers, Fort Concho is the reason that San Angelo exists today. It includes a visitor center, museum and parade grounds. Seventeen buildings on the fort grounds have been restored original and five are rebuilt giving the visitors an authentic feel for the frontier days of the mid-1880s. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $2, adults; $1.50, military and senior citizens; and $1.25, students. ASU Planetarium

The Planetarium is the fourth largest planetarium in the nation among universities. Here you can view an array of programs for he public with three-dimensional views of the universe. Planetarium shows are at 8 p.m. Thursdays and 2 p.m. Saturdays when ASU classes are in session. Admission is $3 for adults and $1.50 for students, faculty, senior citizens and children. The Nature Center

Located on the shore of Lake Nasworthy, the center serves as a natural science and natural history museum, complete with native-plant gardens and a variety of indigenous flora and fauna.
