Galveston

Galveston Island is 1 hour from us. This historical city has activities galore for all ages. There are historical sights to see, sand and beach to play on, shopping on the Strand, Moody Gardens with its two glass pyramids (space center exhibit and replica of the rain forests of the world.) and more. This city comes alive at Maids Gras (March). It is a great place to shop at Christmastime when the city decorates and dresses like folks right out of a Charles Dickens’s novel. Don’t miss a performance or play at the old opera house.

Old Town Spring

Old Town Spring is a shopper’s paradise with merchandise from funky/fun to antiques. Eat ice cream on a restaurant patio, visit an English teahouse, or Enjoy a great hamburger. The shops are “shotgun” style houses. (one story house with a front door and back door opposite each other so that when doors are open a weapon could be fired in one door and the bullet would travel right out the other. Shot gun houses are a part of Texas early architecture and named for the times.)

George Ranch Historical Park

25 miles south of the city.

Travel through time at the 480 acre living history park, center point of a 23,000 acre working cattle ranch. See pioneer, Victorian, and Great Depression life as experienced on this ranch.
