Hayward Lakes area offers opportunities, challenges, and resources for any type of bike.
ROAD BIKING - A great resource is the CITY OF HAYWARD BIKE TRAIL, Length: 6.6 miles. This paved path is slightly sloped, is separated from traffic, and has safety signals at road crossings. Parking is available at Hayward Wesleyan Church, the Fishing Hall of Fame, Hayward High School, the Weiss Community Library, and Sevenwinds Casino. Trail Difficulty: Easy. SAWYER COUNTY ROADS—Varied lengths. The county roads of Sawyer County offer road-bicycle enthusiasts a scenic tour of the Hayward Lakes Area. Choose your road experience: flat or hilly, paved or unpaved, easy cruise or challenging workout. No fee/pass is required.
MOUNTAIN/OFF ROAD BIKING -
Thanks largely to the efforts of CAMBA (the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association), our area offers over 300 miles of bike trails:
130 miles of sweet single track, including 75 miles of interconnected trails
200 miles of other mapped and marked off-road routes
70 miles of groomed winter fat bike trails and routes
Hundreds of miles of remote, low-traffic, scenic gravel riding
Tuscobia State Trail is a 74-mile trail open to biking year-round (trail is not groomed); for more information, call 715-266-7032.
The CAMBA system offers trail experiences ranging from easy, flow-style beginner trails to very challenging single-track. The CAMBA Trail Guide, an overview map of the system, can be found at area bike shops or at the Hayward Visitor Center. It—and more detailed cluster maps—can also be purchased online here.
