Campground Reviews

The whole week was great. We've been coming to this KOA for 31 years now, and we keep coming back. The only downside of our trip was the trash cans were removed and the bathroom and showers were not as clean as they used to be. But this will not detour us from coming back. It's a great place to stay.

6 night stay. RR and laundry good. Staff good and friendly. Location good. They do need to do some site leveling on selected sites. Also a dedicated "thru path" to RR and laundry midway on the rows. Overall good stay.

Great campground. Lots of trees/shade. We stayed in a travel trailer in a full hook-up, pull-thru site. All utilities worked. This campground is close to the 3 National Monuments we visited.

We were only supposed to be there overnight. Our Jacks would not go up. It took us 8 days to get them. The staff was so accommodating. The hiking trails by the park were an excellent pastime for our dog. Friendly people.

Great people; great location; space 184 is very uneven; loose soil and need the trees trimmed. Great hookups. The back side of the park opens to a beautiful trail. Megan was great to help us with a reservation.

We enjoyed staying at this campground. Very friendly staff, clean bathrooms and showers. Close to shopping and few minutes with car from downtown. They had everything for kids to enjoy their staying. Overall I will go back there if I need to stay in flagstaff.

Very noisy location from guests, road noise and permanent residents.

Nice park located at base of Mt Elden with amazing hiking trails. Sites were not quite level but were ok for larger rigs. Workers are very nice and friendly. 2 nice large K9 camps for dogs to run. Some updating at park being done.

Flagstaff KOA Holiday was very accommodating! we were politely greeted by front office staff .The cabin we stayed in was perfect for my small family of 3, plus one dog! Our cabin had a kitchenette - a medium sized fridge, dishwasher full size kitchen sink a microwave and two small electric burners. One full size bath with shower/tub“Glamping” at it’s finest! Sleeps 8 but perfect for 5

Our site was completely uneven and very tight with no patio room. Also no grass for dogs. Employees were very nice.

I initially had an issue with a truck and camper parked in my spot, 55, and I was told by staff to just find another place. The camper eventually moved after enough neighbors stopped by to check on me. The sites are packed in tightly. Restroom facilities are clean.

I chose this KOA because it was perfectly located between places we were traveling, so I'd expect it to possibly be close to a major road. This KOA DOES have beautiful natural surroundings, but the actual sites are in need of some freshening. Weedy areas between sites, beat-up galvanized trash cans instead of trash pick up like most private campgrounds provide; off-level sites.

This KOA is the worst we've ever been to. The camp site was uneven, the roads are too narrow for big rigs as picnic tables, trees, and vehicles were sticking out on the edge of the road and we barely were able to drive out. The maintenance is zero here. What a shame that you don't care what the campground looks like.

Great campground, helpful employees, clean bathrooms & showers

Good location and check in was easy. Staff was pleasant and led me to my site. I didn’t use any of the amenities but a fair number of people were using them. Flagstaff is a neat town to visit.

I like the location. Some road noise for pitches closer to the road. From personal experience and from what I observed, most pitches require leveling blocks. I experienced effectively non-existent WiFi at pitch 93. Better WiFi at pitch 62. Beautifully stocked convenience/gift store. Very amenable staff. Beautifully hot showers. I definitely would stay here again.

Very nice camping with pine trees. Sites are wide and long. The camping was quite full but quiet . Excellent customer service at the reception office.

ALL of the employees were so friendly and helpful! We got to know a sweet gal named Sara who was exceptional! When driving by in the cart she offered our dog a Milkbone and was so nice and caring. Sara always stopped to say hi when she saw us. Sara is one of those unforgettable people that enlighten your day. Thank you ALL for a wonderful time. The campsite was also great!!

Very friendly welcome! We were even guided to our site. Sitexwas fine. Noise from the near street is disturbing.

Some people don't know or just don't care about camp etiquette. Need to post a big sign...

Everything was great. The only down was the BBQ grill on our patio, didn't work. It was so packed with grease that it wouldn't lite.

Pro. They serve breakfast(pancakes, eggs, bacon)7-9am and dinner(burgers, steak, chicken). It's clean. The laundry room was good. It's flat and clean. Con: The put me in a spot to small for my truck and camper. The campground is dirt and small rocks. Lots of dust. They wanted to charge me $60 to move me. I made my reservation in January. You knew I was coming and had opposing slides. Didn't matter.

We have stayed at Flagstaff KOA many times. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. But the 4 vs 5 stars is because now their tent sites do not all have chip/mulch tent pad even though it is a feature on their reservations. I only discovered this on a one night stay when I had to pound tent stakes into hard ground. On our stay a week later I asked and was changed to a slot with a pad. Be aware.

Old, dated and very unreliable WiFi.

The bathrooms need a serious deep cleaning and could definitely use a remodel.

Just spent the night and arrived very late. Thank you for having everything ready in the late arriving box.
May 20, 2024
The park seems run down and could use a clean up. Pull thru sites aren’t suitable for larger rigs because of narrow roads and huge rocks at the end of sites making pulling through to leave difficult.

Very scenic staff was very friendly

Exceptional stay at the KOA Holiday Flagstaff! The staff was courteous and helpful. We had a beautiful tent site (202) with water and electric. Which was close to the bathrooms and the kids area. We will definitely be returning! Wonderful time!

First class operation. Staff pays attention to detail. Facilities in good repair. Easy access and gool location.

Great staff! In charge and on the ball! Site was literally dirt! No gravel, no mulch…dirt! If it had rained I would Not have been able to back in, or rig up at 70yo in the mud. Should have stayed in Williams, great place!!!.

Everyone was amazing and helpful in every way. A+

Able to fit me in short notice. Only complaint, they let someone have a fire pit going hi winds burning some noxious wood until 5 am.

We stayed here for 4 nights while in Flagstaff for a wedding. Unless you're approaching the campground from the north on Highway 89, you'll be making a left turn into the campground at a traffic light with no green arrow and limited long-range visibility of oncoming traffic, so prepare to be patient. The campground is located within a lightly forested area at the base of Elden Mountain. Most of the roads within the campground are one-way roads, marked as such on the campground map but generally not on the roads themselves. Some roads are paved while others are gravel. All of the RV sites have gravel pads, a picnic table, and an elevated charcoal grill. Some sites are equipped with extras such as fire pits, patios, and cable hookups. We arrived about a half-hour after the check-in time of noon. The RVers in the spot originally assigned to us had trouble with their rig and hadn't left yet, so the campground staff quickly found a new spot to put us in within the same section of FHU pull-through sites with cable TV hookups at the north end of the campground. After escorting us to site 168, our guide told us to turn on all the breakers on our power pole (not just the 50 amp one we were going to use), or we might not get power. We did that and had no power issues during our stay, but the pump handle style water spigot at our site would occasionally experience severe drops in water pressure. We eventually figured out that this only happened when the handle was fully engaged in the up position; when we pulled it down a slight bit, the pressure would remain consistent. The sites in this section of the campground are pretty un-level: we had to put two boards under the driver's side tires to get close to level, but a lot of other folks had it much worse, using blocks stacked one to two feet high to get level or using their leveling jacks to lift their front or rear tires several inches off the ground. There are quite a few tall trees in this section, which provide shade but can also complicate maneuvering in and out of sites. We could not have made the left turn out of our site with our large rig: fortunately we were able to exit through the empty site in front of us, otherwise we would have been backing out. This particular KOA currently has no swimming pool, but it has many of the other typical KOA amenities like a jumping pillow, a playground, a store within the office, bathrooms within the office building and another building that also had a laundry room, and large tricycles for rent. There is also a permanent food truck on site that wasn't open yet. The propane refill station is located away from the office on the end of a row of sites, with no real place to park nearby without blocking a road. There is also a dump station along the official "exit" road out of the park, but most folks exit via the entrance road to take advantage of the traffic light There are two adjacent dog parks at the front of the campground with separate entrance gates and mostly dirt and grass surfaces. They receive some light at night but you'll want to take your flashlight with you. Another good option for walking dogs is along the hiking trail that starts at the north end of the park. That segment of trail also connects to longer public hiking trails, including a steep one that goes to the top of Elden Mountain. In terms of cell service, I could not get enough bandwidth on my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna to even run a speed test, no matter what time of day it was, so we ended up using the cable hookup to watch TV (the cable picture was pixelated at times but usually watchable if you're not a high-resolution snob) In contrast, the best speed I saw on my AT&T smartphone with 5G was 93 Mbps down and 14 up. The campground WiFi clocked in with 7 down and 1 up.

This is our go to place either going east or west on our trips...but we have never seen this place SOLD-OUT. Because of the outlander event nearby. Close for getting to Grand Canyon south, Sedona not that far, and it's a college town too!
