Poolhot tubs and waterslide were closed and lfilled with greenish brown water. My site had a 15 foot long 6-8 inch deep tire rut dividing the camper parking and the picnic table. Huge sunken area that turned into a puddle where we were had to park the car i almost couldnt get out of after a night of rain. Showers were in poor condition. Appears to have potential, huge staff, but disappointing.

Bigger isn’t always better.We came from IL and weren’t told the resort was under construction; half the amenities weren’t even available. I booked last 8 months in advance and there was confusion on which site and I was placed on a lesser site and then issued a meager credit for their error. My site was primitive at best, and prone to retaining water. I’ve had better experiences at smaller

Mount Rushmore KOA Resort at Palmer Gulch is amazing! It is right in the middle of Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, and Crazy Horse. The employees were very helpful in helping us navigate the surroundings! We definitely would stay here again if we are ever back this way and would recommend it to family and friends.

To many kids running all over. And lots of pitbulls running all over . We had a pit next to us barked all the time . If you have kids this is your place if not run . But the park has everything for a family to have a great time . Watch out for large dogs . Shepherd s pit bulls lots of them .

The positives: The resort is nice w/ amenities such as a pool, hot tub, golf course, pickle ball and basketball court, playgrounds and bounce area. The negatives: basketballs need to be replaced. They are horrible and all completely smooth. The cleanliness around the activities area could be better as sand was all on the sidewalk. Also, the traffic with all sorts of vehicles was heavy all the time

Very peaceful and close to very clean nice restrooms and showers The only suggestion was the dryers I tried 4 out of 4 at 50 cents a piece and still was not dry and they were not towels but everything else. Great !!!

Only one pool was open. The mini golf putters gave kids fiberglass slivers several times until we said they cannot play it again. Lots of construction still happening.

Everything was done very well. We were greeted when we arrived and driven to our campsite and cabin. They explained the amenities and gave us great suggestions on things to do while we were there. We will definitely come back with the family again!

Everything was great. The only suggestion is being more clear on the length of the trailer and rv spots. I noticed many patrons struggling to get their equipment to fit.

Always a great place to get away to. Close to all area attractions. Lots of amenities and clean facilities. Highly recommend this place. This is our favorite KOA in the country.

The quality of food at the restaurants on the resort were not great for how much it costs. I just wish the prices would match the quality. There was also no wifi. This is the first KOA I’ve been to that didn’t have WiFi. Otherwise, it’s a great KOA and we would definitely stay again but probably avoid the restaurants.

Staff was awesome especially since it was a very cold and rainy sunday. Their was a lot to do and lots of programs and activists to do on any day.

Check in was horrible didn’t get the type of spot we paid for, multiple locations open for use when told this was the only available. Neighbors extremely close when again lots of places open. Fire pits surrounding but couldn’t tell which was ours

The positives: Location was great, only a few minutes from Mount Rushmore. There are plenty of amenities to keep adults and children entertained. The negatives: Spaces are too small. The majority of sites don’t fit your tow vehicle. Most people were parked in the grass on their site or were sticking half way out in the street. Which makes it hard to navigate entering and leaving.

Location is amazing. Our cabin was on a slight slope and a couple nights it got pretty chilly w no space heater available. Otherwise great experience! So many activities for the kids while providing a relaxing atmosphere for the grown ups.

We stayed in May 2024. Fantastic park with lots of fun amenities. Staffs were very friendly & helpful. We love how it was kept clean & organized. The trails were very clean & sparse. There's lots of open spaces for my blind dog to walk. It was easy to get in & out of park. Hopefully the next time we visit, there will be more poo bags dispensers.

Deluxe Cabin was nice. Bink beds and loft somewhat uncomfortable. 7-8 people with 1 bathroom was hard.

It was great once we found the place. We received the email notifying of road 244 closure, but we arrived very late and made the wrong turn. Had to do a tight U-turn with the rig on a downhill in front of the blocked bridge entrance. The “KOA No Access sign” should have been placed next or near the first sign into Mt Rushmore from Rd 244. Took us 45 mins to go around and enter from Hill City.

We went there 17-19 May. It was expensive to stay and a lot of the amenities were closed such as both pools, pizza and ice cream parlor. I was hoping to see the horses but they weren't out yet. Since those things were closed, I think they should have given a discounted rate.

Great campground and friendly staff. Most camper spaces appear to be level. Lots of nice tent spots too. Lots of scenic rides in the area.

We stayed in one of their deluxe cabin/tiny houses (unit 466). It was clean and fairly well stocked - toaster, Keurig, small coffee pot, silverware, pots, pans, plates, bowls, mugs, glasses, and some utensils. We loved the location - near the lodge and new pool and playground. We were there over Memorial Day, despite it being packed it was quiet and peaceful. We found staff helpful with questions and responsive to requests (we asked for more spoons and coffee filters, they brought them to our cabin within minutes). The cabin has 2 tvs with cable that got about 20 channels. Cell service was spotty - my husband has AT&T which got better service than my Verizon phone. Wi-Fi was spotty. We didn't do very much there and wish the activity schedule had come out sooner. But our kids enjoyed the new playground, pool, jumping pillow, and chess game. We were disappointed that there's no longer a splash pad, but they replaced it with a new playground that looks super fun and is almost finished (wasn't open yet). We especially loved the location - super close to my Rushmore, crazy horse, sylvan lake. A short drive to Custer, wind cave, hot springs, jewel cave.
