Campground Reviews

This was our first time staying here and were very pleased. We like the overall condition of the facility and upkeep. The sites are very nice and well kept. suggestions: - Our site had a 40ft dead tree which should be removed -The group next us had their massive lights on all night (quiet hours should include lighting) -had diesel truck running 2 hrs until 11:30 pm (KOA should patrol for this

Enjoyed this campground very much, well maintained and beautiful sites and the farm setting was very relaxing

The facility had many great amenities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The camp store was well stocked and had great hours. My only negative comment is that the roads were in bad shape and needed to be graded. The sites themselves are gravel and many had ruts. We arrived shortly after a rain event and many sites had large puddles which flooded the camp side. This makes it over priced.

Beautiful park. First time camping. I can only hope all KOAs can come close to the experience provided by this Holiday KOA.

We love Sundbury KOA! Great Staff, especially the Staff in the Cafe. I didn't get their names, but I remembered them from last year. They make our Sunday breakfast and stay very memorable! GOD Blessed you always

No leadership. Not enough craft for all kid campers.

We've stayed at this campground several times and because my wife still works, reliable, fast internet is a must. The Wi-Fi here has always been just that. This stay, the Wi-Fi continuously dropped out and/or buffered far more often than what's been typical which is why I rated the stay a 4. To be fair, this may have been due to the solar storm that also brought us the spectacular Northern Lights.

This was our favorite campsite by far! We have a site with a shanty, which made our stay a lot easier. The site itself is really nice and it’s close to a bathroom. The only downside are the geese. They’re so loud and there are many. But we lived this place so much we’d happily deal with the geese all over again.

Had a nice time with family but the website descriptions of what is available are misleading. seems to have changed hands recently and has a lot of deferred maintenance issues. No kayak rentals until Memorial Day? The grass was extremely tall all over the campground especially in the playground areas. The gravel pad for our premium site was horrible and extremely uneven. Hopeful it improves.

Lovely campground, friendly and accommodating staff Lots to do and spacious sites!

Children’s playgrounds in poor condition. Bordering on unsafe. Broken missing boards and safety equipment. People speeding through drives. Grand daughter injured on giant photochair near camp store. Don’t think I will return with kids.

We have always loved this campground but this stay was not up to par. The big jump pad was broken, along with the zip line and gem mining. My ids were very disappointed as those are al their favorite things. There was also poison ivy all over the grounds.

We've been to many KOAs and this one tops them all. We only stayed one night but next time we are in the area, we will spend more time there. We had a nice site with a view of one of the ponds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. So much to do there. I highly recommend this campground.

We have stayed at Sunbury KOA multiple times since 2019, and have always enjoyed the campground. We understand that camping is being outdoors, but we were a bit disappointed at the upkeep of the sites. Many were overgrown with tall weeds and looked uninviting. We will see if this changes on future stays. Beyond that, we enjoy the campground.

Beautiful property, rural location, quiet & serene during our off-season 2 night weekday stay, amenities galore ... The patio sites are new and landscaping needs to be completed as they currently have a rough terrain that is uneven clay and spotty crabgrass.

It was great. The only issue I had I was charged $6.98 for a dozen eggs. I told her that seemed very high. When I got back to the camper, I could see the price tag on the carton for $3.99. I went back to the store and she made it right. Just need to be more careful.

We had a nice weekend at Sunbury KOA. It’s early in the season but maintenance of the grass and landscaping is a must before each weekend. Staff was friendly and we meet several nice families.

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were very impressed with their hospitality. Would love to visit more often but prices are very expensive compared to many of the other campgrounds. We were able to take advantage of the 30 percent off. Thank you! Love the new "700" section for our large camper.

This is our 3rd time stay at this KOA and the first time having a spot by the water. It was so nice! Our kids loved exploring the campgrounds and playing the park which was super close to our spot. This is my favorite campgrounds and I can't wait to stay again.

Very nice and clean - GPS took me to wrong driveway - that was able to navigate around to next/correct entrance - but overall great place!

I really enjoyed our stay at Sunbury KOA, it was our first camping trip of the year. They have a lot of amenities. We got the deluxe patio pull thur. Nice table and chairs with two nice rockers to sit by the fire. Very friendly and atentive staff. Highly recommended!!

I had to change locations because the first location would not accommodate me with a car/tent situation. The new location worked, but I disliked how far the fire pit was from my car and the geese noise kept me up most of the night. The place was beautiful. I just wasn't in the best place for me. I may return if I start using a tent that is not attached to my car. If not near geese.

Convenient and easy access. Bathrooms are clean and modern

Friendly staff, we were there in off season. Only a few campers there. Very quiet. Not right off the highway. Took 15-20mins to get to campground. Seemed to have plenty to do for families.

Great stay nice staff. Will be back!

The campsite we got was very affordable. Campground was very cool and had a lot of amenities. Staff were very friendly! Definitely plan on staying here again. Reason for not giving 5 stars was due to no hot water in bathrooms (and showers) and camp store closing at 5pm (wish it were open later).

Very nice campground with a variety of site types. We are parked right at the beginning of the campground in a very nice site with full hookups. Clean restrooms and a very well stocked store.

The absolute best KOA we've been to. We loved our spot back in The Backwoods. However, the campground could use some improvements. Pros: - Huge campus with variety of spaces around lake and in wooded areas. - Zipline, jump pad, disk golf, and other toys for the children. - Petting zoo, lake, and nature trail. - Office staff friendly.  Let us receive our packages - a huge plus for us! Cons: - Speed limit not enforced.  This is true for the long-term residents, weekend campers, and maintenance/work campers. Some work campers in their personal vehicles are going way too fast including a gold minivan that is at least going over by 4x - 5x the 5 MPH limit and kicking up dust and neglecting safety of the kids playing nearby. - Maintenance lacking - many unmowed spots and areas (like some of the disk golf course), random trash throughout the campus.  We finally had to clean up the garbage in our site and in the woods behind us.  Just walk around the campus on foot with a few garbage bags and you'll be surprised how much you can pick up. - Major rotting tree in our site that needs to be removed immediately before it becomes a disaster (yes, we informed a maintenance worker). - Nature trail needs major maintenance including whole trees and tree limbs across trail making parts impassable, not to mention the muddy/boggy areas. - Black widow spider in our electrical box - The Backwoods area got quite loud last night we were there with many campers including some unruly ones.  Also, there was an RV where they were clearly smoking the good lettuce, if you know what I mean. 😉 - Overgrown tree branches need to be trimmed back as they were scraping our RV on the way out in a few areas. All-in-all we had a great time and plan on returning.  I hope these suggestions help as this could be an absolutely stellar experience with just a few, easy improvements.

Feels kinda weird using a Hotel list for a campground but rooms=site I would say it was excellent. They have obviously done a lot to keep the sites up. Wood composite Adirondack furniture was at many of the sites and all that we saw had concrete patios. Service was great. Greeted with a smile and friendly faces. Location - hard to beat a location like this in the middle of God's country. It was quiet and easy to get to any of the nearby attractions.
