Boone Hall Plantation

The Boone Hall Plantation is America's most photographed plantation. Stroll through the world famous avenue of oaks, planted in 1743. Explore the Gullah culture through one of a kind live presentations. Visit the Black History in America exhibit on display in 8 original slave cabins. Tour the plantation home and take a guided coach tour across the entire plantation. Enjoy the setting in which many TV shows and movies have been filmed, such as Army Wives, Gone With the Wind, The Notebook, and North & South, and many more. Beautiful Atlantic beaches!! The Isle of Palms beach is only 7 miles away, and has plenty of parking, either all day or metered parking, so you can enjoy as long as you want. The Isle of Palms also offers free public restrooms and free showers. Enjoy lunch overlooking the beach at one of the many restaurants, or cool off at one of several ice cream parlors. The Isle of Palms also has an exciting night life, with bars and restaurants right along the beach.

Middleton Place is a carefully preserved 18th-century plantation, which houses America's oldest landscaped gardens, House Museum and Plantation Stableyards. Experience African American focus tours, carriage tours, kayak tours and horseback riding. Enjoy Low Country fare for lunch and dinner in the Middleton Place Restaurant, or relax in nature and understand elegance at The Inn at Middleton Place. Located approximately 30 miles from the campground.

While at Patriots Point make sure to visit The Medal of Honor Museum aboard the USS YORKTOWN, the Cold War Submarine Memorial, USS YORKTOWN CV-10, submarine USS CLAMAGORE SS-343, a flight simulator, and 26 historic aircraft: one of the largest collections in the United States. Plan a day visting one of the historic grounds of the Magnolia, Middleton, Drayton Hall,or Boone Hall Plantations - to name a few.   Stop in the office for information on plantations close by.  While you are here at Mount Pleasant KOA make sure you check out our wagon ride over to the Oakland Plantation to see and learn about our very own historic plantation as well!

The campground is conveniently located to numerous fantastic restaurants and shopping in the area.  Explore the historic market in downtown Charleston, stop at a delicious restaurant and try all that the Low Country has to offer. Looking for great seafood?  Head to Shem Creek, you can't go wrong. Stop by the office or ask one of our team for recommendations if you do not know where to start.

The beautiful Isle of Palms Beach is a mere 6 miles south of the campground.  Hit one of the many restaurants for a beautiful ocean view as you enjoy your food and drink.The City wants to remind residents and visitors about important regulations intended to protect our beautiful beach and promote a healthy environment for all to enjoy. 

  • No single-use plastics or styrofoam products. 
  • No smoking on the beach or beach access paths 
  • No alcoholic beverages, glass containers, fires or fireworks
  • Fill in holes before you leave, as they could be a hazard for sea turtles and humans
